The overarching mentor text to deepen our decan journey, is Toward a Pedagogy of Acompañamiento: Mexican Migrant Youth Writing from the Underside of Modernity by Enriqúe Sepulveda III. This text helps to frame the walking across borders, languages and institutions as space with potential poetic coherence. A method done in group spaces to remedy the separation of the individual across these solo migrations. This is much the aim and intention of this series.
The text syncretized to Virgo is Jose Esteban Muñoz’s The Sense of Brown.

This month we explore concepts of justice, relationship and honesty. The decans offer a cautionary tale about wearing masks we wont be able to take off after too long and the confessional space needed to come to peace.

I can think of no better fitting Libra text than All About Love (click title to access youtube link) by libra stellium, queen of swords, bell hooks. A very popular book of hooks’ collection, one which uncovers much wisdom to the libra decans as bell very much charts embodied reflections of this life signature through the work.

The mentor text this month is Eros and Civilization by critical theorist, Herbert Marcuse. Marcuse was a mentor to Angela Davis and a figure who contributed much to the development of critical theory. This book speaks to the scorpio decans, and the tower very directly in reclaiming Eros for its revolutionary capacity.

Please remember this lecture series are introductions to main themes from the text. I hope to model how we can use the cards are a filing system. This is our second decan exploration using the work of hooks and given her prolific writing I’m sure I could use each of her books to guide the decan walk. The season of the Star, the Water-bearer, the Exiled. This month we will look at the arc of Aquarius through the five, six and seven of swords. Remember that the 5-7 cards of each suit correspond to the fixed signs of each element.
